My name is Dan James, from Guildford UK. I remember taking my first photos when I was about fifteen: I used to run off with my parent's tiny little 5.1 megapixel digital camera and just take photos of everything! But until a few months ago, I never really touched a camera; for a few weeks I was borrowing my partner's Canon SLR 400d. This is when I decided I wanted to take this on as a full-time hobby. I now take my camera everywhere I go, focusing mainly on the nature side of things - flora and fauna, landscapes and the like. I do enjoy capturing the odd portrait, especially when the person isnt expecting it giving a very natural pose.
Another great passion of mine is travelling. Being only twenty years of age, Ive already been to many fantastic locations, including Australia, the States, Cyprus - and will be spending the summer of 2009 in Sardinia. I want to take what the world has to offer visually, and put that into photographs. Its a shame my passion for photography bloomed as late as it did, it would have been fascinating and compelling to capture those locations on digital film.
When I look though my lens I feel nothing but serenity; whether it be watching a bumble bee gather pollen from a flower, to sitting on a beach watching the sunrise. This is what is what photography is for me.

I have had my photo on the front page of the BBC's "The One Show".
WHR's Beefeater (Guildford Worplesdon) use my photos to promote their buiness on the website I built for them. The Premier Inn team there also used me to take portrait photos which are also on their site and used in the reception there.
